Modular Technologies

In 2008 KCA established a subsidiary company, “KCA Modular Technologies”, which is in charge of in-house equipment fabrication. By establishing it as a separate subsidiary, we can maintain a dedicated management crew which focuses on high quality products with quality improvement based on customer feedback. Since its formation, KCA Modular has built portable laboratories for projects in Alaska, Canada, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Turkey and Guatemala. It has also constructed portable process equipment (one modular carbon column plant and two Merrill Crowe plants) for projects in Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Guatemala.

Modular or permanent On-Site Laboratories

Laboratories engineered and designed to meet each mine site's individual needs. After all the equipment is set up, laboratory personnel can be trained to produce reliable results from various types of test work.

  • Laboratory Construction
  • Assayer and Technician Training
  • Procedures tailored to fit the operation
  • Quality Control and Analysis Programs
  • Safety Programs
  • Modular Units or Permanent Structures

Laboratories are critical to any operation whether they are in the early stages of exploration, later stages of production or even final stages of project reclamation. Kappes, Cassiday & Associates (KCA) is currently working to meet all of their clients' on-site laboratory needs.

KCA can help your laboratory every step along the way. We can work with the client to establish testing programs, design the laboratory, construct it, train the technicians, and set up short-term or long-term quality control programs.

Construction / Fabrication

Clients can work with KCA to design a laboratory that meets all of their needs. This laboratory might be a permanent structure to be constructed on-site or a pre-fabricated modular laboratory produced in KCA's facilities and shipped to site.

Permanent structures are designed and constructed under KCA. These facilities are closely designed around the test-work that the laboratory is designed to provide.

Modular Laboratories can come in a number of sizes and configurations. Generally built in overseas shipping containers, they can be shipped to any part of the globe.

A standard modular configuration would include three 20-foot containers; sample preparation, fire assay, and a wet/metallurgical unit. A laboratory of this size could be expected to assay 100-150 samples per day. A similar configuration with 40-foot containers could expect double the production rate.

Training

AA TrainingThere are a variety of training programs available for all levels of technicians and managers.

  • Atomic Absorption
  • Column Test
  • Bottle Rolls
  • Cyanide Speciation (WAD CN)
  • Fire Assay
  • Sample Preparation
  • Cyanide Shake Tests
  • Environmental Testing
  • Data Entry/Data Management

Quality Control / Analysis

KCA can help to design, implement, and/or monitor quality control and analysis programs to ensure high assay quality and reproducibility.
